Participation of the Hungarian delegation at the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women
The Commission on the Status of Women holds its 63rd Session from 11-22 March 2019, with the active engagement of the Hungarian delegation, led by H.E. Dr. Attila Beneda, Deputy State Secretary for Family Affairs. Hungary presented its inclusive, responsive family policies empowering women and girls, with a special focus this year on single parents.

The First Regular Session of the UN-Women Executive Board took place on 12 February 2019, with the active participation of Hungary. H.E. Katalin Annamária Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary of the UN and Vice-Chair of the Board representing the Eastern European Group.
The Fourth International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The Fourth International Day of Women and Girls in Science was organized on February 11, 2019 by the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) in close collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Permanent Missions to the United Nations of Bangladesh, Portugal, the Slovak Republic and Hungary. On the margin of the event H.E. Ambassador Katalin Annamária Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the United Nations led the High-level Panel on Investing in Science and Technology Education for Shaping Society’s Future.
Security Council Open Debate on the impacts of climate related disasters on international peace and security
On January 25, 2019, His Excellency Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, addressed the Security Council at its Open Debate on the impacts of climate related disasters on international peace and security. In his statement, Minister Szijjártó underlined the importance of addressing climate related disasters and the related security challenges such as migration. The Minister called upon the international community to focus their efforts on tackling the root causes in the affected countries to reduce the losses from these catastrophic events.
