High Level Forum on the Culture of Peace at the UN

The annual High Level Forum on the Culture of Peace took place on 7 September at the UN. H.E. Ambassador Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the UN, participated in the panel discussion focusing on the role of early childhood development in fostering peaceful societies. She emphasized the importance of soft diplomacy in achieving peace, and presented how Hungarian policies of early childhood education foster social inclusion and talent support.

Stocktaking of progress on SDGs by the President of the 71st session of the General Assembly, including the outcome of the water dialogue co-moderated by Hungary and Tajikistan

On 8 September 2017 H.E. Mr Peter Thomson, President of the UN General Assembly convened an interactive dialogue with the Member States to take stock of progress made on the implementation of the Agenda 2030 during the 71st session of the Assembly. Mr Thomson presented his final SDG report that gathered wide-ranging support from Member States. H.E. Ambassador Katalin Annamária Bogyay, Hungary’s Permanent Representative to the UN gave a debrief on the key messages of the water dialogue’s outcome. Ambassador Bogyay pointed out that tackling the challenges related to the integration and coordination of the UN’s work on the water-related SDG goals and targets is highly timely. The dialogue reached a momentum that merits further looking at common ground and finding the right fora for follow-up.
