Hungary calls for constructive cooperation to prevent mass atrocity crimes all over the world

On December 10, 2018, the Polish Presidency of the Security Council held a successful arria formula debate on prevention of mass atrocities entitled on “Raising effectiveness of atrocity crimes prevention: role of the United Nations Security Council and its Members”. In her remarks, Ambassador Bogyay reaffirmed Hungary’s strong commitment towards the prevention of mass atrocity crimes and fight against impunity.

Kick off plenary debate of the Security Council Reform

H.E. Security Council open debate on Strengthening Multilateralism and the Role of the United Nations

The Security Council, under the Presidency of China, held an open debate on Strengthening Multilateralism and the Role of the United Nations on November 9, 2018. At the open debate Ambassador Katalin Annamária Bogyay delivered the national statement on behalf of Hungary. In her statement, Ambassador Bogyay emphasized the need of stronger and better multilateral institutions to demonstrate the value of the multilateral system. She stressed that in today’s interconnected and globalized world, multilateral solutions have no real alternatives. Multilateralism will survive, but perhaps with international, multilateral institutions which are new or renewed and/or reinvented.

Hungarian National Day Celebration at the Lincoln Center

H.E. Ambassador Katalin Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the UN hosted a reception in the Lincoln Center on the occasion of the National Day to commemorate the 62th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution in Hungary, which was followed by the performance of the Hungarian State Opera in the presence of the President of Hungary, H.E. János Áder and First Lady H.E. Anita Herczegh.
